May: LABOURING TOGETHER… in the Scriptures!

This year we have stressed the importance of God’s people labouring together and I have been so blessed watching many of our folk take up this challenge. During our spring outreach program many people “Knocked their Neighborhoods” inviting their neighbors to our Resurrection musical.  In a little more than a month, we passed out over 5,000 invitations as a church family. We saw our attendance increase to sixty more people than we normally have on a Sunday morning.  Thank you church for “Labouring Together!” This month we continue this emphasis by considering what it means to labour in the Scriptures. Our memory verse says, “And these were more noble than those at Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the Scriptures daily, whether those things were so” Acts 17:11.

April: LABOURING TOGETHER… in Prayers!

Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Jesus Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.”  – Colossians 4:12

Our theme for this year is “Labouring Together” and this month our focus is on labouring together in prayer.

As we continue considering our 2016 theme, this month we look at the importance of our “Labouring Together” in our giving. Our memory verse comes from Acts 20:35 which is a part of Paul’s farewell sermon to the Ephesian elders. Paul in a few words expressed the important principles that these elders were to keep before God’s people. Among these wonderful truths Paul shares with us one of the lost sayings of our Lord’s public ministry, “I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how He said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
