August: LABOURING TOGETHER… in encouraging others!

As we continue to look at our theme of “Labouring Together,” we have a verse before us this month that is often overlooked when it comes to doing the work of our Lord. It simply says, “Bear one another’s burden, and so fulfil the law of Christ” (Galatians 6:2). The idea of this verse is one of encouraging each other. Much good is done to the cause of Christ by those who encourage the brethren. Are you an encourager or a discourager?

July: LABOURING TOGETHER… in doing good works!

Our memory verse for July comes from a very familiar passage but it is often over looked when the passage is quoted. Many Christians know and quote Ephesians 2:8-9, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.   Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Sadly, it is at this point that most Christians quit quoting because they are satisfied that they have proved that they are saved by grace minus any works. While I agree with their doctrinal teaching I wish that they would quote the next verse too, to have a balance in their Christian lives. “For we are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them” (Ephesians 2:10).

June: LABOURING TOGETHER… in reaching all men!

I have moved our Faith Promise Mission’s Conference to the month of June, in hope that more of our congregation will be able to be involved. Our memory verses for this month are Colossians 1:27, 28, which say, “To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:   Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.”
