A HEALTHY CHURCH… is a place of refuge

Isaiah 55:8-9 says, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

This month, God gave all of us an unforgettable reminder of this truth.

We were shocked to find out that the three-year-old daughter of one of our dear sweet families had suddenly fallen ill with an extremely rare sickness (there have been only 200 recorded cases worldwide). The father was baptized at TBC a few years ago. Immediately, Tabernacle began the journey of walking with them through this unbelievably dark valley.

The prayers, care, and visits were incredible. Our schedule and plans went out the window. Church members took time off work to visit. After twelve days, the little angel entered into the presence of her Savior, untainted by the world, but deeply missed by her family and loved ones.

I was amazed and inspired to see our church gather around this family and invite hundreds of others around the globe to unite with them in prayer.

Then I remembered April’s theme verse, I Corinthians 12:25-26, which says, “That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another. And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.” May Tabernacle Baptist Church be a place for believers to care for one another, bear each others’ burdens, and rejoice with one another.

Though the circumstances of this life can be confusing at times, we can rest knowing that His ways are higher than our ways, just like the heavens are high above the earth.

P.S. Continue to uphold this dear family in your prayers as they seek the Lord during this time.
